Unlimited Potential (MOVE UP)

UChicago Promise MOVE UP is an expansion of UChicago Promise designed to support local students and families through the virtual college engagement, application, admissions, and financial aid process.

For Chicago Public Schools and charter students looking to learn more about UChicago and the highly selective admissions process, UChicago Admissions Counselors will be hosting virtual office hours. Students interested in these virtual office hours can sign up here.*

In addition to the extended virtual support offered to all Chicago Public Schools and charter students, UChicago applicants will receive additional college application advising. More information on the application process can be found on the College Admissions website.

UChicago Promise builds on a strong foundation of programs and initiatives sponsored by the University that help Chicago high school and grade school students get the best chance at an excellent education.

Connections to Partner Colleges

The University of Chicago partners with other colleges and universities to help Chicago Public Schools and charter students plan for postsecondary success.

As a member of the Coalition for College, UChicago shares a mission with over 150 schools across the nation to increase college access, affordability, and success for all students.

UChicago is also a proud partner of the City Colleges of Chicago, and all Star Scholarship recipients who are admitted to UChicago as transfer applicants will automatically receive a full-tuition scholarship.

Admissions Academy

Admissions Academy

The Admissions Academy was designed to support educators through professional development and other resources as well as provide resources and information to guide students and families through college admissions and financial aid processes.

University of Chicago students who are interested in supporting the Admissions Academy can apply to become a Jeff Metcalf UChicago Promise intern. UChicago Promise interns assist Admissions Office staff members in planning Admissions Academy events and are assigned to a local high school postsecondary counseling office to assist with preparing high school students for the college application process.

Chicago Scholarship Information Session

Join UChicago admissions counselors as they discuss the various scholarships available for students in the Chicago area, including the Chicago Public Schools Scholarship, Chicago Public Schools Educator Award, and Police and Fire Scholarship. A staff member from Illinois Tech will also join us to share more information about their merit scholarship offerings.

Our Pledge: Graduate Debt-Free

Students admitted to the University of Chicago for undergraduate studies will have their full demonstrated financial need met without loans. These student loans will be replaced by grants, which do not have to be repaid.

Chicago residents who attend high school in Chicago will also have the $75 application fee automatically waived when applying to the University of Chicago.
